As you may already be aware of the importance of control arms in your vehicle’s suspension system you may need some help regarding how to replace the bushings. First you need to park the jeep at a spacious area, preferably a flat ground before applying parking brakes. Ideally parking brakes should be applied from inside. Then try to loosen the lug-nuts from the tire. Make sure not to remove using a lug-nut wrench. Then lift the vehicle with the assistance of hydraulic jack placed under the axle. Make sure that the jack is located in the correct position. Using a tire wrench remove the lug-nuts. You can remove the tire safely from the vehicle once the lug-nuts are removed. Next, removal of bolts holding the control arms should be undertaken carefully. Make sure that you remove the axle bolt and the chassis bolt correctly. Now you are ready to replace the bushings.

You need a power drill and suitable pliers to proceed. Drill a one-inch hole into the bushing once the control arm is kept on a flat surface. Once drilled it becomes easy to remove the rest of the worn our bushing with pliers. Using a wire brush and clean the inside of the control arm. Remove any left over of the old bushing.  Next align the control arm to the new bushing within a vice with extra care. This is because you might damage the bushings. Close the vice slowly. Make sure the bushing slides into the control arm evenly, otherwise there is no use. Continue until the bushing is fully seated into the control arm.

Once this is done you are ready to place the control arm into the vehicle’s axle and chassis brackets. After that use a ratchet and socket in order to tighten the control arm bolt thoroughly. Then you can replace the tire of the vehicle.
