How Solar Power Changed My Life Forever

My power bill was ridiculous
The poor economy; petroleum costs going up and down, inflation…with all this going on my power company raised their rates by nearly 9%. I just couldn’t keep up. I was doing all I could do to use as little power at home as possible. Something was going to have to change but, I did not know what. If that wasn’t bad enough this whole issue of climate change has me concerned, but what could I do?
I found out about solar power for the home, installed a solar panel and boy was that a wise move! It was basically as easy as any other weekend project. I took my material list to the big box store and got everything on the list in one place for $197.00. Took it home and arranged everything outside. Then I studied through the directions one time and went to work. I was really flabbergasted when 5 hours later I had a wonderful looking solar panel. I was so pleased with my self and my solar panel! The next day I hooked it up to my house (following the instructions and all the safety measures of course). Two electric bills later I was even more amazed to see that I had saved nearly 45% on my bill with just that one panel.
Individuals can make a difference, if 1 out of ten individuals who owns a home,constructed just one solar panel or windmill think of all the energy that would be saved. All the oil that we would not use. Yes, I am saving money, but I know I am also playing my part to save Mother Earth.
