Online businesses should understand that like any other business offline or online, it will only survive if it has customers and more importantly sales. No business can survive without sales and sales can be difficult if you don’t know how to position yourself to sell.

What do I mean? Well if you were in a business such as selling socks for example offline, then you would need a shop and then the location of that shop and the advertising/marketing would determine the success or sales success of that shop. If the location was a bad or mediocre then to be successful the shop would need to be better at advertising/marketing the shops location and goods for sale. If this was not done well, then the customers would never find the shop or products from that shop to buy, which would then result in no sales.

For retail shops, it’s all about location, location, location. Online businesses are no different.

Online businesses need to understand the techniques enabling their business to be more visible. Like any other business, relationships with customers are important, particularly with high cost ticket items. Would you spend £500 with someone you have never met or know nothing about? You would if the purchase was a necessity for you. Regardless of the purchase being a need or want, repeat business or business longevity is normally established via relationships.

The disadvantage online businesses have is they cannot see the customer or the customer cannot see them because online businesses are not face to face.

This means that online businesses, have to establish an online presence which involves all of the important factors which require a successful business to work. The only way an online business can establish a relationship with it’s potential customers, is to be involved in online techniques to allow this to happen. Facebook is one of those techniques. It’s completely free and you then can have success marketing YOU to over 200 million active Facebook users.

The key is to sell you first then if that person is what I call a ‘qualified prospect’, then you can discuss your online opportunity,product,service etc. It does not matter which article you read on this subject if the article is worth reading then it will tell you the same thing. Market yourself not the business. attraction marketing is becoming the online preferred way to market. Why? because it works.

Facebook is a way for the online business to build relationships and contacts and to eventually make sales without spending a penny. It can take time, but well worth it once your relationships have been established.
The key is focus when using Facebook and not get carried away on pointless activities ( activities that are not achievement towards your goals.
