You are probably asking, “What is so special about Ain Ghazal? What features does it have to interest the average human being?” It is a prehistoric site that is located near Amman, the capital city of Jordan. The inhabitants in this settlement carried out duties that included farming, herding and making tools, weapons and objects out of stone, clay and plaster less than ten thousand years ago. The works they crafted were supposedly modeled on human skulls.
Have you already seen any replicas of the statues of the Ain Ghazal peoples? This collection of work is something that would probably be worth your time to see. The statues are quite beautiful and lifelike, portraying human beings that had hair on their heads; large, interested-looking eyes; long necks and aesthetic bodies. My observation is these people were highly intelligent, strong and physically fit. How could we not admire or be inspired by them?
The Ain Ghazal inhabitants belonged to a Neolithic class of beings. This settlement was inhabited from 7250 BC to 5000 BC. Seeing that this group of people lived not too long ago, we can understand why they were so advanced.
What did these inhabitants eat? What kinds of animals did they invest their time in hunting? They produced a variety of grains that included barley, wheat, peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas. They chased down animals such as deer, gazelle, pigs, foxes and hares – they must have had delicious meals like us. Goats were domesticated and taken care of by the people living here. The goats probably assisted these inhabitants in the cultivation of staples and other aspects of the daily operations.
These inhabitants must not have cared about maintaining clean, good-smelling homes? Why do I say this? These human beings sometimes buried their fallen friends and relatives beneath their floors, in terrain surrounding their homes or in garbage pits. Most of us would consider this practice to be disgusting.
How gigantic was this settlement? How many human beings lived there? The size of the land was estimated to be twenty five to thirty seven acres. It is estimated that three thousand people lived there.
